If any parts are not matching, the value of the rifle is far less, since mismatched guns are very common. If serial number on all the other parts on the bolt and stock match, then you have a rare find. The barrel is stamped with a "dot" marking, indicating that it was a subcontracted barrel made in Waffen Werke BrĂ¼nn AG, which is in Brussels, Belgium. Gustloff used four, others typically one or two. The number on waffenamts on the side of the reciever varies for different factories. Waffenamt means "weapons office" and each stamp is a quality inspector's signature for inspecting one or more elements on the rifle as it is constructed. ![]() The four waffenamts (eagle and inspector's number quality inspection stamps) on the right side were common practice for the Gustloff factory. ![]() 130,144 were made that year, so it's fairly common for 1940 k98's. Your rifle was made at the Gustloff Werke factory in Weimar, Germany. ![]()
