Select the HDMI option from the left panel and choose your TV from the Output tab. *I've never owned an Apple laptop but we have an M1 iMac here, with supposedly all-singing, all-dancing, Dolby Atmos, 6-channel yada yada… sounds about as good as a pair of $£€ 20 speakers from a supermarket/electrical retailer. ![]() The best of these apps will cost more than a cheap set of speakers. Here's a QA with a list of the currently-available software for Mac that can do this. I don't see it being a great idea, all in all. (You may need to scroll down. When you play sound through your Mac’s built-in speakers the output is set to Internal Speakers Built In. You will also quite likely have a headset socket which can only handle mono input. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Sound in the sidebar. You will also get the tinny sound of laptop speakers*. If your amplifier has its own DAC (means it has digital input as source, sometimes optical/digital or USB) that you can use Mac as 'transport' the lossless music files to the amplifier (bypass Macs owb DAC) - that will likely minimize the 'noticeable difference' between different Macs. Routing input to output directly is not possible natively. ![]()
